A sci-fi setting where robot companions are normal, most people have at least one, often from early childhood. Because of this, they don't really have to worry about socialization, which means they have a hard time forming relationships with each other.
The robots, realizing this is self-destructive for the species as a whole, start trying to play matchmaker for their human owners.
